40 Tons of GMO Sugar Beets were set ablaze in Eastern Oregon, yesterday. FORTY TONS — the entire acreage of two full fields of crops IN THE GROUND were set ablaze over a THREE NIGHT PERIOD OF TIME. When lawmakers and corporations refuse to honor the Constitution and instead engage in ‘legalized’ criminal acts such as enabled by the ‘Monsanto Protection Act,’ people get mad.

March Against Monsanto 5/25/13
Yesterday 2 millions earth inhabitants marched in 450 cities all over the globe. Families gathered in squares, on capitol steps, in parks, and took to the streets against the chemical and seed giant, Monsanto. Monsanto is a top earth offender. It’s sins include DDT, Agent Orange, rbGH, and now GMOs. Where was the media coverage or cute children in red anti-Monsanto shirts with their signs held high? Where are the new articles speaking of the citizens who came together on a late spring day. Why didn’t they ask why? Where were they? Why are they hiding?
Per Anoymous, “Research studies have shown that Monsanto’s genetically-modified foods can lead to serious health conditions such as the development of cancer tumors, infertility, birth defects, and other dis-eases. In the United States, the FDA, the agency tasked with ensuring food safety for the population, is steered by ex-Monsanto executives. World renowned scientists raising the alarm on GMO food, such as Arpad Pusztai, have been silenced. There is an obvious conflict of interests which explains the lack of public research on the long-term effects of GMO products. Recently, the U.S. Congress quietly passed the “Monsanto Protection Act” which, among other things, bans courts from halting the sale of Monsanto’s genetically-modified seeds.
For too long, Monsanto has been the benefactor of corporate subsidies and political favoritism. Organic and small independent farmers suffer losses while Monsanto continues to forge its monopoly over the world’s food supply, including exclusive patenting rights over seeds. Farmers trying to save their own seeds have been sued by Monsanto when their fields have been contaminated by Monsanto’s patented seeds. Independent farmers cannot survive financially in the face of court battles against a multinational corporation.Monsanto’s GMO seeds are harmful to the environment. Scientists have indicated they have contributed to colony collapse among the bee population. The promotion of the use of glyphosate, an herbicide used in conjunction with roundup ready crops, has resulted in the apparition of superweeds and the widespread presence of glyphosate in the environment, with little being known about the long term effects of exposure on human health and on ecosystems.
There are many solutions: voting with your dollar by buying organic, labeling of GMO foods, repealing relevant provisions of the US’s “Monsanto Protection Act”.”
We must act before it is too late.
